Almost off the wall

By wed noon we should be all done pumping.

Too funny

A reporter that will remain unnamed was here over the weekend and dropped an expensive wireless microphone over the wall into the flood water. Opps!

We Crested!

36.99 feet appears to be the oficial crest. Very nice weather and the pumps behaved themselves today. Now we wait for the water to get off the dike(34 feet).

Next Door

This is the house next door to the north. They have a permanent clay dike that they added clay to this spring and then added sandbags to make 40'-I would rather pound nails!

Almost Cresting

The river only rose a little today. The have again downgraded the crest to 37' on Sunday. Things are going well except pumps are icing.

It's cold!

Pumps started this morning around Seven. Hoses are freezing up and it's a pain to keep things going. The upside is that the National Weather Service downgraded the crest now to 37.5 feet. The are still saying Sunday for the crest but the indicators are all there that we will crest tomarrow. Long night ahead with watching pumps in this weather.

The wait

Everything that needs to be done is, now the wait and add bracing inside as needed. It was a very nice day today and a beautiful sunset.

finishing details

Today we worked on some last minute details as well as a connecting dike made from sand bags to the neighbors dike.

Finishing the outside

Yesterday we pretty much buttoned up the outside of the dike.

Finished Sheating

Completed sheeting today and was hoping for a little breathing room, but the National Weather Service is saying it will be almost to the wall by friday so we will work on plastic covering tomorrow afternoon.

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Its been too wet and muddy here to work the last few days, so today Nick and Brian went to the Moorhead sandbag filling site and filled a few bags.

Sheeting

This weekend we did part of the sheeting. We worked out of the trailer behind the 4 wheeler with the 8' ladder and still had trouble reaching the top of the wall. We have been working in the mud, so it has been challenging. The weather has been cooperating, and hopefully some of this mud will dry up before we have to put plastic on.

Taking apart 5' walls

We tore apart all the 5' sections of wall today and are ready to put in the new 8' studs.

Monday, March 1, 2010

We are staging wall sections early this week, and will be attempting to be done with basic wall contruction by Thursday night.
We moved a lot of snow around where we plan on putting up the wall. This by the way is the same camera shot as the one first on the blog, that was the end of March last year.
